    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This study programme is aimed at those wishing to pursue a career as a beauty therapist in the exciting and fast evolving world of beauty. The programme provides you with a range of essential technical and practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the beauty industry. These skills include carrying out treatments such as; manicure, pedicure, hair removal, facial treatments, lash and brow treatments, application of make-up and light cured gel polish.

    The practical workshops in our excellent salon facilities will enable you to learn the professional approach to client consultation, treatment application and techniques, and appropriate homecare and aftercare advice. Throughout your training programme you will be required to carry out treatments on peers and paying clients, demonstrating your ability to meet the standards of the qualification. To gain this qualification, students will successfully achieve all elements of the course including one externally-set synoptic theory examination and one externally-set synoptic practical examination, optional unit assessment, engaged and evidenced employer involvement.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    Learn how to carry out a range of technical and practical skills in beauty therapy including facial skincare, waxing, manicure, and pedicure. Your programme is enhanced with training in our spa facilities or learning tanning treatments. You will gain invaluable experience in treating clients within ‘The Zone’, our commercial salons, while you work on paying clients. You will undertake meaningful activity with employers and within the local community during your study alongside 35 hours of work experience. Trips are planned into the programme and you will attend exhibitions such as Beauty for Professionals, where you will learn about the latest trends and equipment in this involving industry.

    Next Steps

    This course is designed to ensure that you can progress to further vocational studies for a relevant level 3 qualification, apprenticeship, or full time employment.

    Tuition Costs

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2020.

    For all students aged 19+ fees will be £1595.

    Additional Costs

    Approximately £310 for uniform/kit and £60 for trips/materials.
