This study programme is aimed at those wishing to pursue a career as a beauty therapist in the exciting and fast evolving world of beauty. It provides you with in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical experience across a variety of units including Anatomy and physiology, Principles of practice for beauty therapists, hair removal treatments, facial and skin analysis, manicure and pedicure services, light cured gel polish, lash and brow treatments and application of make-up. The practical workshops in our excellent salon facilities will enable you to learn the professional approach to client consultation, treatment application and techniques, appropriate homecare and aftercare advice. Throughout your training programme you will be required to carry out treatments on peers and paying clients. The Spa and Salons is a high-tech learning environment, providing you with the best facilities and products.
You will also engage in work related learning including work experience to help build your confidence levels and enable you to move effectively into the Level 3 technical programme.
To gain this qualification, students will successfully achieve one externally set synoptic examination and one externally set synoptic practical examination, and optional unit assessment.
All students who have not achieved a grade C or grade 4, or above in GCSE English or maths or both will need to study an English or/and maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification.
A full time level 1 Beauty Therapy or Hair and Beauty qualification or an academic profile of 4 GCSEs at grade D or grade 3, (including English Language) or equivalent.
Learn a range of technical and creative skills including using the full spa facilities and study current trends in ‘The Zone’, our commercial salons while you work on clients. You have the opportunity to find out what is changing in the industry, attending exhibitions such as Beauty for Professionals, where you will learn about the latest trends and equipment to keep you up to date.
This course is designed to ensure that you can progress to further vocational studies for relevant level 3 qualification, apprenticeship or full time employment.
No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2017.

The facilities are fantastic and the teaching is excellent. We have great opportunities to experience Level 3 skills which have motivated me to pursue a career in this field.
