  • Entry Requirements

    • 19 years old or above
    • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) must be in place at enrolment & students must register with DBS Update Service
    • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
    • Working or volunteering within primary, secondary, or further education for a minimum of 16 hours per week
    • English and maths at GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent

    Course Overview

    This study programme provides the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to be effective in a range of educational settings. Units you will study include: Enabling individuals to learn, Understand how to support children and young people to improve their mental health and well-being, Working with others to support individuals with additional needs and disability in a school or college, Working with families and other professionals in a school or college setting, and Implementing change in school or college setting.

    It is essential that students have the ability to meet assessment deadlines.

    Course Highlights

    This study programme is designed for those who wish to progress to become an Advanced Practitioner within the education support workforce. The Advanced Practitioner will use their knowledge and understanding of the role to work independently, and support newer members of staff within the organisation.

    On completion of the course, students will be excellently placed to move into senior teaching assistant positions, or possibly leading a team of education support workers within an organisation. Students will also be well prepared to enter higher education at degree level.
