Floristry – Weddings and Arrangements (Evening)

  • 1 Year | Part Time
  • Suffolk Rural
  • Level 2 | Vocational

Course overview

During this year long course, you will learn to create a wide range of wedding and occasion designs and arrangements in a variety of styles and mediums. As an industry, we aim to explore sustainable methods of practice, and this will be embedded in the course through an exploration of different bases, flower use and the range of sustainable resources available to the florist.  You will build your knowledge of the specific care of cut flowers and learn to identify commonly used materials, producing at least one new design each week. You will learn how to operate safely within the industry. Alongside your practical floristry designs, you will explore art and design for florists.

Assessment is through two portfolios showcasing a selection of your designs and two art and design portfolios showing your understanding of the use of colour and design principles. These are taught weekly, and no previous design knowledge is assumed. There is also one short online test on the use of colour and design principles.

This evening course runs two evenings a week  (Tuesday and Wednesday)  from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. It provides the opportunity to gain the City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in floristry (0351), an industry standard qualification for florists.

Additional Costs:  Students are responsible for purchasing their sundries with advice from the course tutor. Flower costs are charged at £600 payable in 10 instalments of £60 with the first payment due by 23/9 /25.
