Course overview

Discover the joy of working with flowers on our City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Floristry course, a hands-on introduction to the fundamentals of floral design. This highly practical, beginner-friendly course runs one day a week, making it easy to fit around your life while you develop creative new skills.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn essential floristry techniques such

  • Wiring
  • Taping
  • Conditioning flowers
  • Creating hand-tied arrangements

As part of your learning experience, you’ll also collaborate with your peers to create a large group floral installation for a college event, building on professional skills and an understanding of the planning behind larger-scale designs.

Assessment is continuous and includes practical work and theory elements to ensure you develop both your technical skills and your understanding of floristry principles.

Additional Information

  • Students are required to bring their own sundries.

For learners 16-18, this course will be fully funded. For adults (19+), please contact us for further information.
