Event set up for potential teachers after surge in interest during lockdown

Suffolk has seen a significant surge in enquiries from people who are interested in their teacher training programme since lockdown.

As a result in this increased interest, University of Suffolk at Suffolk New College is hosting an online ‘Become a Teacher’ event on Tuesday 16 June 2020 between 5.30 and 7pm.

Interested parties can register their details via https://www.suffolk.ac.uk/about/jobs (become a teacher) where they will get the chance to find out about teacher training course options with University of Suffolk at Suffolk New College – as well as general information about other pathways.

They can also find out about bursaries that are available for those interested in teaching certain subjects involving English, maths and special educational needs courses.

35 year old Darren Simons is the teacher development co-ordinator at the college. He said, “I think home schooling during lockdown has really shone a light on the value of teaching.

“Teaching is incredibly fulfilling as you get to help others, make a difference and continually celebrate in other people’s successes. We are looking forward to hosting this online event.”
