    3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) including English and/or Maths or Level 1 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair including English & maths at level 1.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at Suffolk New College - on the coast (Halesworth Campus)

    This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to study both the theory and practical aspects of a range of routine vehicle inspection, fitting and maintenance procedures such as

    - Health & Safety

    - Tools and Equipment

    - Vehicle servicing

    - Engine technology

    - Chassis systems – Tyres, brakes, steering & suspension

    - Vehicle electrical systems to include Hybrid vehicle awareness.

    Practical activities are completed in fully resourced workshops led by highly competent and qualified staff. You must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.


    Course Highlights

    You will have the opportunity to demonstrate and build on your skills in our state of the art, industry standard workshops. You can visit motor shows and exhibitions, while also having the opportunity to test your skills in the World Skills competitions and to exhibit your work at local shows.

    The study programme will also develop personal, social and employability skills, which includes opportunities to work on community projects and to explore the various career pathways within the automotive industry and various visits and talks from local employers, who will tell you what you need to get a job in the industry.

    Next Steps

    On completion of this qualification, students will have a good understanding of requirements of motor vehicle engineering and can progress to the next level of study within motor vehicle or engineering.
