The Extended Diploma is designed to give you the skills, knowledge, and understanding of a wide range of occupational roles undertaken in the Public Services (uniformed) e.g. Police, Military, Fire Service, Health Service, and HM Customs.
The study programme consists of a combination of classroom-based taught lessons, visiting speakers from Public Services, and practical and physical activities. Units include:
- Communication
- Planning and Responding to Emergencies
- Understanding Discipline
- Instructing Physical Activity
- Impact of Media on Public Services
Students will undertake a residential as part of the Outdoor and Adventurous activities unit and will also complete at least 30 hours of voluntary work to complete a Volunteering unit.
The qualification prepares you for employment in Public Services and develops team skills, leadership skills, and a wide range of employability skills relevant to a broad range of sectors in the world of work.
The vocational context of the qualification allows for assessment, written, and practical assignments to be directly linked to realistic work-based scenarios and to form links with local Public Service providers.
All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualifications.
A fee of £200 will be required to cover trips and expeditions expenses.
