Suffolk New College, through the Students’ Union, offers a range of Sports and Societies. We offer casual activities like Pilates, Yoga and Table-Tennis as well as the opportunity to compete in various sports against other colleges. There is also the opportunity for Student's, with the help of the Sports & Societies Co-Ordinator, to start up their own clubs to promote and develop their own particular interest.
The College is a member of British Colleges Sports (BCS) and through these links we play competitive and friendly fixtures against other colleges within the region.
BCS is a national organisation offering student’s opportunities to play in many competitive games with the possibility in playing in the prestigious National Finals at Loughborough University where over 2500 students compete for the national title. Trials are also held for a place in the National Squad for Men’s and Women’s Football, Netball and Rugby. BCS also has a men’s football team for students with disabilities
We are always looking for students to participate in the following: Badminton, Basketball, Cross-Country, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rugby 10’s, 5-a-side Football, Squash, Swimming, Table-Tennis, Tennis, Trampolining and Volleyball. Speak to a member of staff in the Sports office if interested.
The College Football Scheme provides students with the opportunity to develop their football skills by offering expert coaching and weekly fixtures. You can gain recognised academic qualifications as well as the opportunity to attain a Football coaching qualification by the time you finish. The scheme is open to male and female players competing in the Football Youth Conference and BCS leagues respectfully. Please click here to go to the Football Scheme Website.
The Adrenaline Gym is an on site Fitness Suite with multi-stations comprising of weight resistance and cardiovascular machines to suit all levels and abilities. Use of the gym is by membership only, at a cost of £15 - £25 per year (depending on type of membership). Personal exercise programmes are also available from qualified staff.
