Course overview

This exciting, and popular Industry-focused course provides learners with the opportunity to become fully qualified Fitness-Industry professionals. Endorsed by CIMSPA (The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity), the course provides learners with the necessary industry-recognised qualifications and professional standards to be able to work in the vibrant and rewarding world of Fitness Instructing and Personal Training.

During the course, you will gain the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to work in the fitness industry, taking place in our very own state-of-the-art SNC RAMS gym.

What’s more, you will learn and be taught by a team of highly qualified and expert teachers who are also experienced Personal Trainers, athletes, and assessors, providing learners with a wealth of top tips, industry know-how and insights to support your professional journey.

The course is a full-time programme, delivered over 3 days per week for the duration of the academic year.

Completion of this course comes with an accredited qualification and certificate recognised in industry, endorsed by CIMSPA, and allows you to practice and work within the Fitness Industry.

Fitness Instructing:

  • Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
  • Maximising the Customer Experience in a Gym Environment
  • Supporting Client Health and Well-Being
  • Conducting Client Consultations and Gym Inductions
  • Planning and Reviewing Gym-Based Exercise Programmes
  • Instructing and Supervising Gym-Based Exercise Programmes

Personal Training:

  • Applied Anatomy and Physiology for Activity, Health and Fitness
  • Client Motivation and Lifestyle Management
  • Programming Personal Training Sessions
  • Delivering Personal Training Sessions
  • Nutrition to Support a Physical Activity Programme
  • Business Acumen for Personal Trainers

Assessment

Assessments include a range of portfolio-based internally assessed practical tasks and assignments where you will demonstrate your knowledge, understanding and skills.

Progression

Upon completion of the course, learners can go straight into industry, or look to progress to university on courses such as Strength & Conditioning, or Sports Coaching.
