    3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) including English,

    Level 1 Introduction into the Hair & Beauty Sector including level 1 English and maths.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This qualification covers all the core skills you will need to progress to further learning and training, or to enter the world of work within the barbering industry. You will study the following mandatory content:

    • Principles of hairdressing and barbering services

    • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

    • Cut hair using basic barbering techniques

    • Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques

    • Dry and finish men’s hair

    • Create basic outlines and detailing in hair

    You will work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. We will support your learning, by working with both local and national barbering businesses, including:

    • structured work-experience or work-placements within their business

    • your attendance at classes or lectures given by industry experts

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    Barbers will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using barbering techniques, style and finish hair, cut facial hair into shape, and provide shaving services for men.

    Barbers must be able to work with all hair types from straight hair to very curly hair.

    As barbering services are increasing in demand from men who are interested in being well groomed, there has been no better time to get into this fantastic industry.

    Tuition Costs

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2020.

    For all students aged 19+ fees will be published at a later date.

    Additional Costs

    Approximately £260 for uniform/kit and £40 for trips/materials.
