  • 1 Year | Part Time
  • Suffolk Rural
  • Level 3 | Vocational

Course overview

The Introduction to Zoo Keeping course is designed for adults who are interested in pursuing a career as a zoo keeper.

This course is predominantly practical in nature, with evidence gathered in individual portfolios. Based in our recently refurbished animal centre, learners will have the opportunity to work with nearly 60 different animal species, covering a wide range of taxa. All tasks and portfolio evidence are designed with the zoo keeping profession in mind, reflecting current industry standards.

Attendance is required for two days per week, with additional independent study expected. Work experience is strongly encouraged to complement the practical training.

To achieve the qualification, learners will be assessed through a combination of practical demonstrations and written assignments. These will be compiled into a portfolio of evidence, which may also include photographs and videos.
