Highfield L3 Award in First Aid at Work
This 3 day course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed by first aiders in the workplaces to become a confident first aider at work. Giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies, it meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations.
The content of the course will cover how to deal with the following: The role of the first aider, Managing an emergency, Communication and casualty care, Asthma, Bleeding (minor and severe), Bone, muscle and joint injuries, Burns and scalds, Chest pains (including heart attack, Choking (Adult), Eye injuries ,Fainting, Defibrillator prompts and how to respond, Head injuries, Health and Safety (first aid) regulations, Low blood sugar, Poisoning, Resuscitation (adult CPR), Seizures (adult), Severe allergic reaction, Shock, Spinal injuries, Stroke, Unresponsive casualty, Defibrillator pad placement.

You will need to bring: writing materials to take notes and wear comfortable casual clothing; trousers are recommended as there will be a high degree of practical work.
Assessment: Continuous practical and theoretical assessment will be carried out throughout the course by the tutor. Following successful completion of the course and achievement of a multiple choice paper based test, you will be awarded a First Aid Certificate which is regulated by OFQUAL and is valid for 3 years.
Enrolment End Date: Please note that the enrolment for this course closes 3 working days before the start of the course. Unfortunately, it is not possible to process late enrolments after that point.
Refreshments and lunch will be available to purchase at the College refectories. Alternatively, you may wish to bring your refreshments and packed lunch if preferred.
