This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age, with applied knowledge in the early years (birth to 5 years). It includes both knowledge and skills that meet the Department for Education’s (DfE) Early Years Practitioner (EYP) criteria in full and map to the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) within the Early Years Practitioner occupational standard in England.
What you will learn: You will be assessed through written assignments as well as your practice being observed by an assessor in your setting. You will cover a range of topics such as professional practice, health and safety, safeguarding, equality, diversity & inclusive practice, supporting children’s development, planning & delivering activities, promoting positive behaviour, supporting children with SEND, promoting positive behaviour, partnership working, supporting children preparing for school and supporting care routines.
Progression: We offer a wide range of Education and Early Years qualifications and training to support you in developing your skills and knowledge and to provide an offer that sees the sector receiving the upskilling, training and development required to ensure that Suffolk and surrounding areas can be a beacon for excellent care working with children. After successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner, we recommend progressing onto one of our part-time childcare & education courses at level 3.
