Course overview

This course is ideal for students aged 16+ who are interested in exploring a future in the Creative Industries but may not yet be ready to begin a Level 1 qualification. It’s especially suited to those transitioning from school to college who may need a confidence boost or additional support in developing their creative and academic skills.
You’ll gain a broad introduction to the world of Art and Design through six engaging units:

  • Working in Creative Arts and Media
  • A Project in 2D or 3D
  • Clothing Design
  • Developing Painting and Drawing
  • Introduction to Mixed Media in 2D
  • Printmaking

Throughout the course, you’ll build practical skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media. You’ll also develop essential personal and professional skills such as time management, communication, research, and project organisation.

English and Maths will be embedded into your learning, helping you strengthen your study skills while working creatively. This course is a supportive and inspiring starting point for anyone looking to grow their confidence and prepare for further study or future creative pathways.
