Discover the creative possibilities of printmaking in this practical and engaging 10-week course designed for adults of all experience levels. Whether you are completely new to printmaking or looking to refresh existing skills, this course offers a supportive introduction to a range of traditional and contemporary print processes.
Working in a friendly studio environment, you will learn how to create original prints using monoprinting, drypoint, linocut and experimental techniques. Through guided projects and demonstrations, you will develop confidence using specialist tools and equipment while exploring your own creative ideas.
Throughout the course you will:
- Explore monoprinting techniques through layering, texture and expressive mark-making
- Learn the fundamentals of drypoint printmaking and intaglio printing
- Create a multi-stage reduction linocut print using colour and registration techniques
- Experiment with expressive line work and chine collé processes
- Develop an understanding of composition, colour and printmaking materials
- Gain experience using an etching press safely and effectively
- Build a portfolio of original prints and finished artworks
No previous printmaking experience is required.
Refreshments are available from the vending machines on the campus which include both hot and cold drinks.
You need to bring: An A4 sketchpad, drawing pencils, a black fine liner pen, and biro. You will be advised in your first lesson about the costs of any specialist materials you may require.
