Davide Oggero
Pastry chef creating desserts and patisserie in the heart of Cambridge’s hospitality scene
Davide Oggero studied Level 3 Professional Cookery and Patisserie at Suffolk New College between 2023 and 2025. He describes his time on the course as incredibly helpful, particularly the work experience placements in some great kitchens and the opportunity to enter national competitions, both of which gave him a real taste of the industry.
Just days after leaving college, Davide started work at Margarets in Cambridge, where he is now a pastry chef.
Looking back, the competitions stand out as the highlight of his time at college, including taking part in the UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year and finishing runner-up twice with multiple commendations. Although he never won, he remembers each one as an amazing few days. He also enjoyed taking part in events and shows, including the Aldeburgh Food Festival.
His advice to current students is simple: “Learn as much as you can, not only at college but at home. Read books, watch videos, and practise as much as you can, no matter your mood.”
