Course overview
This course aims to help learners and Health & Social Care professionals to develop their skills and knowledge and develop an understanding of the meaning of learning disability and autism, and how these can impact an individual. It will also help learners to understand what adjustments may be needed to support an individual who has a learning disability or autism and how to access additional support.
This is a 2-day course, 09:30 AM -2:30 PM, face-to-face with online assessment to be completed remotely.
Completion of this course comes with an accredited qualification and certificate recognised in industry.
Course contents and learning aim-
This unit will develop an understanding of the meaning of learning disability and autism, and how these can impact an individual. It will also help learners to understand what adjustments may be needed to support an individual who has a learning disability or autism and how to access additional support.
- Understand the needs and experiences of people with a learning disability and autistic people
- Understand how to meet the communication and information needs of people with a learning disability and autistic people
- Understand reasonable adjustments which may be necessary in health and care delivery
- Understand how legislation and guidance support people with a learning disability and autistic people
Assessment will include components of practical in our state-of-the-art Health Science campus, as well as an online suite of assessments to which you will have access.
