    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Halesworth campus

    This introductory programme of study has been designed to give students a general introduction to a broad range of construction skills. Practical activities are completed in fully resourced workshops led by highly competent and qualified staff. Students will study technical units to develop skills and knowledge associated with construction to prepare them for further study in particular construction trades.

    Students must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

    • Carpentry Joints, Door Ironmongery, Architrave & Skirting’s

    • Maintain carpentry hand tools

    • Install basic plumbing fittings

    • Painting & Wallpapering skills

    • Wall and floor tiling

    • Functional Skills Maths and English

    • Health & safety at work


    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.


    Course Highlights

    All students will demonstrate their practical skills in industry standard workshops. With opportunities to participate in local shows and exhibitions, including the Suffolk Show. Student will have the opportunities to meet local employers within the construction industry to improve employability skills.

    Next Steps

    On successful completion of the Level 2, students can progress onto a T level in Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning or into an apprenticeship in the trades.
