Student Support can help with:

  • Drugs and Alcohol support
  • Bullying
  • Advocacy
  • Relationships
  • Financial concerns
  • Housing

Safeguarding Team

  • Child Protection referrals
  • Vulnerable Adult referrals
  • Liaising with Social Workers

Food Fund
If you do not have enough food at home or are worrying about the amount you have, please see the Student Support Team to enquire about a food parcel.

How we support you
As a young Adult Carer you will be offered a meeting once a term to meet with a Student Support Advisor. These meetings are to:

  • Check how you are settling in to College life
  • Discuss available / continued support
  • Discuss future options / independent advice and guidance

Overall responsibility for Young Adult Carers is with the Student Support Manager and the Student Support Team Leader, Alison Brinkhoff.

Funding 16+
As a Young Adult Carer you will be entitled to our discretionary bursary fund. Application forms are available from Student Support in G8.

Young Adult Carer (YAC) Advisor
A YAC Advisor visits Suffolk New College once a fortnight, based in Student Support. You can arrange directly with your YAC Advisor to meet here at the College, or book an appointment with them through Student Support.
