School Liaison

Welcome to School Liaison

Suffolk New College is Ipswich’s leading Further Education provider, offering vocational courses to more than 2,500 young people, taught in industry-standard facilities by tutors with years of experience.

The College enjoys strong links with commerce, a mutually-beneficial association which helps mould the structure and content of courses to help produce hungry, talented young people who fully understand the requirements of potential employers.

In each of the last four years, more than 93% of students who successfully completed a course at Suffolk New College went into work or continued to study in further or higher education.

The College has a dedicated Schools Liaison who works in partnership with schools, sixth forms and academies to raise awareness of vocational courses and apprenticeships and promote choice among young people contemplating their next steps.

The College established the role of Schools Liaison three years ago and has since worked with more than 25 Suffolk schools, meeting hundreds of pupils from year 7 to 11 and supporting them to make an informed choice about their future and education.

We are available to visit schools all year round, including careers fairs, assemblies, drop-in surgeries and parents’ evenings. We can also provide one-to-one or group work sessions, mock interviews, CV workshops and can provide real-time application reporting.

This resource outlines the services we provide in helping pupils make the transition into further education.

Meet Victoria Addis

Victoria became Suffolk New College’s first Schools Liaison when she took up the position three years ago.

The mum-of-two has a wealth of educational and business experience and has developed her role to ensure she can provide support and guidance to as many pupils as possible on the options open to them.

Victoria, who is qualified to Level 6 in Careers, Information Advice and Guidance, has built strong relationships with more than 25 Suffolk schools, helping thousands of young people in the process.

She is passionate about young people and their progression into the world of work.

“School liaison has gone from strength-to-strength in the last three years,” said Victoria.

“No school is the same and we pride ourselves on tailoring our services to support existing career provision.”
