Suffolk New College Looks Forward to Attending Suffolk Skills Show 2017

Suffolk New College will be taking part in this year’s Suffolk Skills Show at Trinity Park on Wednesday 18 October 2017.

Suffolk Skills 2017 is anticipated to be the largest employer-led skills and careers event in the area, aiming to attract 5000 visitors on the day. The show gives students ideas about how they can turn their best subjects into skills and qualifications needed for apprenticeships and careers.

Suffolk New College will host a range of skills challenges and ‘Have-A-Go’ hands-on activities to inspire young people to explore careers and motivate them to find out more about the wide range of courses the College offers.

This year, our Have-A-Go activities will include designing a trainer, DJ-ing, a motor vehicle pit-stop challenge, hair styling, build-a-PC, and an electrical installation challenge. These activities will be on offer across three venues: the Military Village, the Marquee and the Cattle Building.

The Suffolk Skills Show is open to all – young people from 11+, parents and even grandparents, in fact anyone with an interest in skills and careers in Suffolk.

For the first time, this year, Suffolk Skills will also be opening its doors to over 18’s who are looking for employment. The new ‘Job Hunter’ service allows people of all ages to talk to employers and find vacancies using the Job Hunter symbol in the event map given out on the day, on the stand of an exhibitor who's recruiting and on their online booking.

Job seekers are encourage to bring along their C.V as they can apply on the day and, in the Careers and Information Zone,  get tips on how to improve and adapt a C.V, to apply for different types of positions.
