  • Entry Requirements

    • Be at least 19 years of age.
    • Have a minimum of GCSE grade 4 in English and Grade 3 in maths (or equivalent)
    • Learners will be required to complete a written assessment prior to enrolment.
    • Learners will need to be working or volunteering in a practical placement for a minimum of 100 hours for the certificate and a further 100 hours for the diploma.
    • Complete Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks via Employer.

    Course Overview

    This qualification provides learners with an in-depth understanding of knowledge and skills through a range of units that include:

    • Children and young people’s development,
    • Safeguarding,
    • Schools and colleges as organisations,
    • English and maths skills,
    • Health and safety
    • Support children positive behaviour,
    • Develop professional relationships etc.

    It is suitable for learners working I roles that offer specialist support for pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.

    All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include:

    • Direct observation by a tutor / teacher / assessor* within the workplace
    • Written assignments and professional discussion in line with the assessment of learning provided for each unit.
    • You will also be visited by your assessor at least once every 6 weeks in your setting.

    Next Steps

    Work in roles that offer specialist support for pupils’ learning in primary, secondary special schools, or colleges. Progression to further study can include a level 4 Advanced Practitioner course, or higher education.

    Students who are aged 19+ at the start date of their course: the tuition fee will be £2225. You may be eligible for a new Advanced Learning Loan.
