Level 2 Step UP

This course is suitable for learners that would like to develop the skills and qualifications needed towards progression on to vocational level 2 and 3 programmes, apprenticeships or employment.
The course is designed to accommodate Maths and English priorities.

The course consists of a range of learner-centred units which include:

Improving Own Confidence- is geared to raise your awareness and existing knowledge of the Importance of improving confidence. You will identify your own personal qualities, skills and strengths, towards setting targets to achieve within the course.
Personal Budgeting – looking at current budgeting skills, with opportunities to confirm income and expenditure, record spending, identify various transactions and financial documents including payslips and bank statements.
Preparing for Work – focusing on identifying employment interests, creating or updating CVs and developing job interview skills, towards applying for work.

Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs at Grade 3 including maths and/or English, or a Level 1 qualification plus maths and/or English at Level 1.

Learners will complete a range of assessment methods to learn and confirm their knowledge and understanding, for example self-assessments, assignments, mock job interviews, and independent research.

This qualification will support progression onto other vocational courses within the college, apprenticeships and employment. Each learner is encouraged to positively progress through a very student-centred approach.

You will be offered advice and guidance to ensure you have explored all your progression options.

The qualification has been supported by local employers, ensuring current employer’s practice, legislations and industry job roles and duties are considered. We have a variety of guest speakers from our local community as part of your course programme. We encourage engagement with the local employers both in the classroom and out on our visits to the workplace where possible.
