The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people in a school or college environment. It will enable learners to gain an understanding of elements including children and young people’s development and safeguarding their welfare.
This qualification aims to:
- Focus on the study of supporting teaching and learning
- Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge.
This also provides a stepping stone into further learning within the sector, such as the NCFE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning and the NCFE Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
This is a knowledge only qualification and Work /industry placement experience is not required but if you choose to undertake this this would enhance your understanding.
You will cover the following mandatory units.
- Schools as Organisations
- Understanding Children and Young People’s Development
- Understanding communication and professional relationships
- Children and Young peoples Health and Safety
- Safeguarding children and young people and Equality Diversity and Inclusion
