What you will learn
You’ll explore how young children grow and develop, how to support babies through play, and how to keep children safe through good health and safety practice. You’ll also look at how play supports learning and development.
Topics include:
- Factors that influence children’s growth and development
- How to support children as they grow
- How play helps babies develop
- The adult’s role in providing play opportunities
- Health and safety guidelines and equipment
- Fire safety when working with young children
- How play can support learning while avoiding stereotypes and discrimination
To complete the course, you’ll put together a small collection of written assessments to show what you’ve learned.
Pre‑requisite qualifications and experience
You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join this course. You will need a good level of written and reading English. This course is designed to spark interest and help you understand the basic skills and knowledge needed to care for young children.
