‘Skills Bootcamps – part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee, helping everyone gain skills for life’.

The Construction Plant Health and Safety Bootcamp aims to provide learners with the opportunity to acquire the essential skills, knowledge and understanding required to work safely on a construction site.

What will I learn?

The Construction Plant Health and Safety Bootcamp aims to provide learners with the opportunity to acquire the essential skills, knowledge and understanding required to work safely on a construction site.

The course includes classroom based learning and practical elements on the following:

  • General health and safety in construction
  • Environmental awareness in construction
  • Safely marshalling plants and vehicles on a construction site

During the course, you will have the opportunity to undertake the following industry qualifications:

  • CITB Health and Safety Awareness Training
  • Health, Safety and Environment Test
  • CITB A73 Plant and Vehicle Marshalling Training

Successful completion of the above will enable you to apply for your CSCS Labourer card and CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

When do I need to attend?

Week 1:
Full day Monday
Half day Tuesday

Week 2:
Full day Monday
Full day Tuesday

Week 3:
Full day Monday
Half day Tuesday
Self-study from home Wednesday
1 hour Thursday

Weeks 4-7:
You will need to attend one set of three full consecutive days out of the 4 available weeks. You will be contacted to identify your preference.

You will be sent the full delivery schedule with dates on application or can request this in advance by emailing business@suffolk.ac.uk

Next Steps

Throughout the bootcamp you will meet with employers, both in the delivery and also those with current vacancies. Successful completion of the bootcamp will prepare you with the requisite skills for immediate entry into industry in jobs such as:

  • Site Operative
  • General Labourer
  • Tradesman Assistant
