The City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Agriculture provides learners with a solid foundation in the modern farming industry. The qualification develops essential practical farming skills alongside the theoretical knowledge required to progress into further study, apprenticeships or employment within agriculture and land-based industries.
Learners gain hands-on experience across livestock, crops and machinery, building confidence working in real farm environments. The programme prepares students for the demands of the agricultural sector by developing both technical ability and workplace readiness.
This qualification is a one-year full-time programme which will include a broad introduction to livestock production, crop husbandry, machinery use and safe working practices. Learners study a range of modules, including:
- Health and Safety for the Land-based Industries
- Working in the Agriculture Industry
- Agricultural Machinery Operations
- Crop Husbandry
- Livestock Husbandry
- Farm Animal Health and Welfare
This qualification is a one-year full-time programme, and learners will be assessed through a combination of multiple choice exams, coursework assignments and a synoptic assessment, which brings together both practical and theoretical elements completed under controlled assessment conditions.
To complete the course, learners must also undertake a minimum of 150 work experience hours with an external employer.
