College gets ready to celebrate its 20th anniversary of hosting the Big Day Out

News overview

Suffolk New College is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their annual family fun day on Saturday 10 May 2025.

The occasion – called the Big Day Out – will take place at Suffolk New College’s Suffolk Rural campus between 10am and 4pm.

Originally set up in 2005, the occasion is billed as a mini county show and events will be taking place at a location based in the village of Otley.

So far, 3000 visitors have already signed up to attend – but free tickets can be secured here: Suffolk New College online ticket sales powered by TicketSource

(Please note, there is a £5.00 car parking charge per vehicle – but entrance is free).

Activities will include tractor displays, equine demos, floristry workshops, live music, food stalls, tree climbing, animal handling and all departments will be offering free interactive experiences related to the courses that they support. Those who come along can also take a look at the college farm and visit the newly upgraded animal centre that recently underwent a £500,000 transformation.

Charlotte Rossiter is event supervisor for Suffolk New College. She said: “We are delighted to be celebrating 20 years of the Big Day Out. We place a tremendous amount of value on the role that we have in the community – and we can’t wait to welcome visitors to our Suffolk Rural Campus on 10 May.”

(Because the college houses livestock, dogs aren’t allowed to attend this year).
