The City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Land Based Engineering (1080) offers learners the opportunity to become a skilled land-based (Agricultural) service engineer. At the end of the course, learners will leave with the required practical and technical skills that are valued by employers and professional bodies.
Learning primarily takes place at our Rural Campus, and learners work closely in the workshop and on the Suffolk Rural Farm to ensure that learners are prepared for working in industry. We also work closely with local employers to provide an enriching curriculum.
Course structure
- This qualification is a 2 year programme with foundation knowledge and skills being developed in Year 1 before moving onto specialist topics and skills in Year 2.
- This is a full time course that requires on-site attendance 3 days per week, 1 day of work experience and 1 day for self directed study.

- Two written exams with essay style answers
- Synoptic assessment, which is a blend of both practical and theory based assessments completed under assessment conditions

To achieve the course, learners must also complete a minimum of 150 work experience hours with an external employer.
