News overview

He is also now a tractor boy and thinks Ipswich will do OK in the Premier League

Abdel Nour, 18, from Ipswich got a grade 8 in maths and a grade 5 in English today. He came to the UK from Sudan in 2024, moving to Kent and then to Ipswich. Since moving to Ipswich he has progressed quickly and is now on a journey to becoming a doctor. He loves living in the town and considers himself a tractor boy.

On getting his GCSE results he said: “It was incredible. It was a mix of emotions. All the hard work paid off and I’m so grateful to the college. I consider Suffolk New College as a family. When I come here it is like coming home. Now I’m looking to come back and do a T Level in health, then an access course before going to university to study medicine. Long term I want to be a neurosurgeon.”

In terms of Ipswich, he added: “I like Ipswich more than anywhere – last year I worked in a kiosk at Ipswich Town stadium and now I’m a tractor boy. I think they will stay in the Premier League – they are going to do great I think.”
