Amazon reviewer says ‘what an amazing novel’……
A Suffolk-born artist who now lives in Essex has just released his first-ever book.
Emile Warnes, 41, from Colchester, launched The Void 2093 in July 2026.
Mr Warnes describes the 299-page epic as ‘dark and brutal – but there is hope in the story’.
The tome – that is for an audience of 18 and over – takes readers on a journey to 2093 where the world is on the brink post an apocalypse.
Mr Warnes explains: “The sun’s collapse has plunged Earth into a permanent winter, leaving humanity divided into three hostile classes: the poor who struggle to survive on the frozen surface, the working factions forced into dangerous labour, and the wealthy elite who abandoned the planet to live in orbit.
“Amid the chaos, four survivors are thrust together by circumstance and desperation. Each carries their own scars, secrets, and loyalties — but all share one fragile hope: salvation.”

Mr Warnes has drawn inspiration from the author and scriptwriter Alex Garland, who wrote the book The Beach and also the screenplay for the film 28 Days Later.
Whilst currently working in the care industry, the skills he uses were learnt whilst studying at Suffolk New College, whom he credits for giving him key skills two decades ago.
On his time at college, he said: “I studied art and design at Suffolk New College around 20 years ago.
“I have great memories. It was brilliant. I was introduced to lots of different mediums like animation, drawing and graphic design and we were encouraged to experiment. I have strong personal ties and still speak to some former tutors – they have been really encouraging.”
After college, Mr Warnes studied for a degree in illustration and has worked in various sectors whilst continuing to do his artwork.
This book is the first of a four-part series – with the next one due out later this year.
On his new career Mr Warnes continued: “It’s great being a published author – but a bit nerve-wracking. Long term I’d love to become a full-time author – or work on screenplays like my inspiration Alex Garland. That would be amazing.”
