A former painter a decorator, who swapped her paintbrush for a plunger, has just been crowned one of the best apprentice plumbers in the country.

Danni Lee, 30, from Ipswich is on a level 3 plumbing, heating and gas course at Suffolk New College.
The CJ Plumbing and Heating employee took part in the HIP female skills competition regional heats in February.

She came second at this stage of the competition and progressed to the finals that took place at Stephenson College, part of the Loughborough College Group, at the end of April.
In the finals, Danni faced five others as she took part in a contest that, according to organisers, ‘showcases the outstanding skills, dedication and motivation of the next generation of female plumbers’.

Danni came second in the finals, narrowly missing out on top spot. She said: “It’s been a great experience, testing my skills against others and I’m shocked to become the second best female apprentice plumber in the country.”

Owen Breadman, a lecturer at Suffolk Rural College, said: “It’s brilliant. Danni smashed it. We are all very proud of her.”
