A group of esports students held a live stream charity fundraiser that made £100.00 for an organisation called Special Effect.
(Special Effect help transform the lives of people with physical challenges right across the world through the innovative use of technology to enable everyone to game).
The occasion took place at Suffolk New College in Ipswich.
It saw around 20 learners go head-to-head against each other to not only raise some cash for a good cause, but also to get new skills in terms of hosting an event that received 15.9k engagements online.

The event was set up by new esports lecturer George King. He said: “We ran the event in our Tech Campus. It was all done live and I’m very proud of the students.
“This is the first time we have done something like this as far as I’m aware and we plan to do this again in the future. Students learn new skills – and we raise money for a good cause – so everyone wins.”
Student Tyler North, 17, from Earl Soham is on a level two esports course. He said: “I made an intermission video to play during the stream when we were at lunch. I think it’s important we raise money for charity – and it also helped showcase what we can do.”
Fellow learner, Byron Pearson, 19, from Ipswich is on the same course as Tyler. He said: “I was one of the shoutcasters so I commentated on the stream and interviewed the players. It’s the first time I’ve ever done something like this – so it gave me confidence. I think it’s important (we did this) to help put esports out there and raise money so others can play games.”
