What you will learn

You’ll explore how to create a safe and hygienic environment for young children, understand their daily routines, and learn how to communicate with them in a positive and supportive way.

You’ll also look at:

  • Spotting signs of ill health
  • Identifying hazards and preventing accidents
  • Healthy diets and supporting sleep time
  • Activities that help develop talking and listening skills

To complete the course, you’ll put together a small collection of written assessments to show what you’ve learned.

Pre‑requisite qualifications and experience

You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to join this course. You will need a good level of written and reading English. This course is designed to spark interest and help you understand the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child. It’s ideal for young people or adults who want to build confidence and develop useful life skills.
