Course Summary:
As a Horticulture or Landscape Supervisor, you will specialise in one of these disciplines within organisations of various sizes which might include domestic gardens, public parks and gardens, green spaces, schools and tourist attractions.
Horticultural Supervisors are responsible for planning and managing the maintenance of established planted areas. They oversee and carry out both hard and soft landscape maintenance tasks, ensuring that each site is cared for in accordance with its design, intended purpose, and the organisation’s goals. Their advanced skill set allows them to perform a broad range of horticultural activities.
Landscaping Supervisors plan, supervise, and undertake the work required to construct new landscapes that meet client specifications. These projects can range from high-value, complex landscapes featuring ornamental elements and a mix of horizontal and vertical structures, to smaller domestic installations such as patios, retaining walls, water features, decking, or pergolas.
Both Horticulture and Landscaping Supervisors typically work outdoors throughout the year, in all weather conditions. Their tasks may also involve working at height, such as when pruning tall plants or hedges. They will also be responsible for leading and managing teams.
