This exciting and popular course provides learners with the opportunity to qualify as a Nail Technician with our state-of-the-art facility, The Zone Salon & Spa
During the course, learners will study two units which focus on manicure skills, and applying, maintaining and removing nail enhancements, using a variety of systems such as UV gel, liquid and powder or wrap nail systems.
You will also learn about health and safety, consulting with the client and hygiene practices for nail technicians.
This is a full Level 2 qualification that, upon completion, will allow you to work as a qualified nail technician.
This course consists of 9 practical assessments to show competency in manicure and your chosen system. A variety of systems are taught, but you can select your chosen system to complete your assessments. External examinations must be completed to demonstrate that you have attained the knowledge required.
The course is a full-time programme, delivered over 2 days per week between January and June as part of the academic year.
*If you are currently studying English and/or Maths with Suffolk New College, this will continue and may mean a 3rd day of attendance is required.
Assessment
Learners will be assessed through a range of modular exams, a portfolio of knowledge and evidence, and practical activities.
Progression
Upon completion of the course, learners can go straight into industry, or look to progress onto our Hair, Beauty, or Make-Up courses.
Course costs:
16-19 is fully funded for anyone who is under 19 at the start of the course.
19+ = Depending on your personal and financial circumstances, this could be funded through the Adult Skills Fund.
Additional costs include our SNC Therapist’s Tunic, and the Nail Kit required for the course – Approximately £100. There are potentialyl additional costs for trips and visits, which will be shared during the course.
