Over 4000 visitors soaked up the sunshine at the annual Big Day Out event held at Suffolk Rural College.
The fun day is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Originally set up in 2005, the occasion is like a mini county show.
Activities included tractor displays, equine demos, floristry workshops, live music, food stalls, tree climbing, animal handling and all departments from Suffolk Rural College and Suffolk New College put on free interactive experiences related to the courses that they support.

Those who came along got to visit the college farm and also had the chance to get a first glimpse inside the newly upgraded animal centre that recently underwent a £500,000 transformation.
Organiser of the event, Charlotte Rossiter, an events supervisor at the college said: “What a glorious day. Big thanks to all the visitors, stallholders, students and staff for making this one of the best Big Day Out’s ever. I’d say it was a roaring success.”

Mr Nunn from Felixstowe brought his family along. He said: “We wanted to have a look around and it’s been really good. I wish I had gone here when I was younger.”

Roxanne Middle from Ipswich came along with three generations of her family. She said: “It’s a fun day out, a family get together, we have met up with friends and we didn’t realise there was so much here.”
Student, Fran Dakin, 18, from Ipswich, is on a level three equine management and she was part of an equine demonstration. Fran said: “We did a drill ride that is a bit like dressage in a group. It was a good experience.”

Many businesses came along including Mandy from M & M sweet treats. Mandy said: “It’s really well organised and a very good day.”

Daniel Knoakes from Cheese and Pie Man also came along to sell his wares. He said: “It’s been an enjoyable day. I think it’s very good what the college is doing (by hosting this family day).”
Alan Pease is the Principal and CEO of Suffolk New College and Suffolk Rural. He said: “Days like this make me feel proud to work for this outstanding organisation.”
