Suffolk New College enjoys the 2018 Suffolk Show

On 30th & 31st May 2018 Suffolk New College enjoyed a great couple of days at The Suffolk Show!

The occasion gave many departments from the college the chance to showcase what they do and saw construction students take part in a skills competition that saw them pit their wits against other Suffolk based colleges.

On winning the brickwork event, Joe Allum from Suffolk New College, said, “It was really good to do this and it was a nice feeling (to win). This will definitely help me in the future.”

Elsewhere, beauty and hairdressing offered free treatments to members of the public and hospitality learners decorated mini cupcakes.

This year, a World War One display area at the show gave an insight into the history of farming and the county's role during this war. The college got behind this theme where in the sports village, students organised ‘olde fashion sports day’ activities such as egg and spoon and sack races.

Childcare students also backed the World War One theme, offering children and their families the chance to make poppies and medals.

Suffolk New College’s marketing manager, Craig Shimmon, said, “The Suffolk Show is a wonderful opportunity for our staff and students to show the quality and diversity of work that they do and it’s always a delight to be part of this great occasion.”
