37 hours per week

Up to £25,038 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Directorate of Student Services, Safeguarding & Support by providing an outstanding service for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Working closely with curriculum teams and external agencies you will be committed to enabling students to learn, achieve and progress, aligned to Suffolk New College’s strategic aims and with regard to the 0–25 SEND Code of Practice (2014).

You will be required to provide support to students with SEND; advising on support needs, completing Education, Health and Care needs assessments, organising, preparing for and chairing of Annual Reviews for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), making applications to the Local Authority for High Needs funding, as well as arranging external referrals for students whom require access to more specialist advice / support / intervention.

You must therefore have excellent working knowledge of:

  • the requirements for education providers arising from the 0–25 SEND Code of Practice (2014)
  • Children and Families Act (2014)
  • the Equality Act (2010)

In addition, you will have a good standard of education including maths and English at GCSE 4/C grade or equivalent, a relevant degree or equivalent in demonstrable experience.

This post is based at Suffolk New College’s Ipswich Campus, however Suffolk New College is a multi-campus college and you will therefore be required to work at and travel between campuses.
