Assessors are required to share their professional knowledge and expertise in order to support Apprentices achieve in their chosen field.

Working alongside employers, you will be required to recruit, train, assess, and guide Apprentices. We are keen to hear from you if you can demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for any of the following areas, and have the ability to encourage and inspire young people.

Following the success of our last events, we have scheduled some upcoming events to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to attend, meet the team and see what the College has to offer.

  • Tuesday 11th February 2020 between 4:30pm to 6pm in our Shelley's Restaurant
  • Tuesday 28th April 2020 between 4:30pm to 6pm in our Shelley's Restaurant
  • Wednesday 10th June 2020 between 4:30pm to 6pm in our Shelley's Restaurant

If you have already attended an event, we will continue to keep you updated with any news and vacancies in the area you have specified an interest in.

These events are drop in sessions, there is no need to book so please just turn up!

We do recommend you try and attend these events where possible as these provide an opportunity to ask questions directly to the assessor team and the management.

You should have relevant, up-to-date industry experience, along with a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Our apprentices may be studying a Level 3 qualification and therefore we actively promote our Assessors to be qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in the chosen field, we appreciate that you may not already hold this level of qualification and therefore we would be willing to consider applicants who are willing to achieve this level of qualification in a specified time period.
Whilst not holding an Assessor award at the time of appointed is not a barrier, you should also have a commitment to achieving an Assessor qualification within a specified timeframe of employment.

Assessors attract a salary of up to £25,503 per annum pro rata, with additional market forces payments being offered to some industry areas. Working patterns can vary from casual, as and when required, to up to 35 hours per week.

If you are looking to move into education as part of your career plan, or you may have industry related skills and experience which could be transferrable, providing you are the right candidate for the job, we will provide you with an excellent level of support to guide you through your training and development and to gain the required qualifications.

Due to the nature of this role, a driving licence with access to a vehicle or other method of transport is essential in order to travel to students’ workplaces. If using your own vehicle, your car insurance must cover business use.

Suffolk New College is a multi campus site therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses
