Framework Overview

This qualification works in conjunction with the VCQ in your workplace and covers the demands of today’s light vehicle repair industry. It provides the essential skills and knowledge for technicians working on light vehicles in automotive workshops. Students study both the theory and practical aspects of the subject through completion of specialist units. Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety, and other skills associated with working in the industry. Practical activities are completed in fully resourced workshops led by highly competent and qualified staff. Students must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

Next Steps

On completion of this qualification, students will be competent to work as fully qualified light vehicle technicians in an automotive repair workshop; students can then progress to IMI Accreditation in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
