Framework Overview
You will spend 6 hours per week in an AAT lesson and where required further time for Functional Skills. Apprentices are required work in an accounting setting.
Completing the programme will involve the study of a range of bookkeeping and accounting controls. An examination will be sat at the end of each unit and will culminate in a final synoptic exam at the end of the year. Exams may take place outside of classroom times.

Successful completion of this course will equip you with the skills to perform in the financial and accounting industries as well as strengthening your CV.
If you wish to continue with your studies then you may wish to consider the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Accounting or Level 4 Diploma in Accounting. Learners may progress to Higher Education to Foundation Degree in Accounting or various degree programmes in Accounting and Finance, other recognised programmes.
Additional Costs
You will need to join the AAT as a student member. This involves paying a joining fee which is currently £40 as well as the annual membership fee which is currently £86. In addition to this you will also need to purchase textbooks for each unit, costing approximately £70 in total.
Fees
Where an employer has less than 50 employees and is not liable to pay the Apprenticeship Levy, the training for Apprentices that are aged between 16 and 18 is fully funded. For Apprentices who are aged 19 years or over at the start of their course, a one-off employer contribution fee is required. (There is an incentive payment of £1,000 available for employers who are not apprenticeship Levy payers and who take on a 16-18 year old apprentice. This incentive payment is payable as £500 after 3 months and £500 after 12 months).
