Framework  Overview

To achieve the Intermediate Apprenticeship, you will need to complete the Level 2 Diploma in IT User Skills.

To do this you will need to gain a minimum of 38 credits. At least 21 credits must be at Level 2 or above. The qualification is made up of three mandatory units and a number of optional units.

There is a good choice of optional units, including:

  • Using Email
  • Website Software
  • Design Software
  • Optimise IT System Performance
  • Using Mobile IT Devices
  • Setting up an IT System

Next Steps

Students that successfully complete their apprenticeship can progress onto Level 3 or seek to gain part/full time employment.


Where an employer has less than 50 employees and is not liable to pay the Apprenticeship Levy, the training for Apprentices that are aged between 16 and 18 is fully funded.  For Apprentices who are aged 19 years or over at the start of their course, a one-off employer contribution fee is required.  (There is an incentive payment of £1,000 available for employers who are not apprenticeship Levy payers and who take on a 16-18 year old apprentice.  This incentive payment is payable as £500 after 3 months and £500 after 12 months).
