Framework Overview

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes which are designed around the needs of both the Apprentice and their employer.  The Apprentice is equipped with theoretical knowledge combined with practical hands-on experience which leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Next Steps

Becoming a fully qualified Engineer, possibly on to higher qualifications or specialisations in the Engineering industry

Where an employer has less than 50 employees and is not liable to pay the Apprenticeship Levy, the training for Apprentices that are aged between 16 and 18 is fully funded.  For Apprentices who are aged 19 years or over at the start of their course, a one-off employer contribution fee is required.  (There is an incentive payment of £1,000 available for employers who are not apprenticeship Levy payers and who take on a 16-18 year old apprentice.  This incentive payment is payable as £500 after 3 months and £500 after 12 months).

Additional Costs

Safety boots and work overalls.
