Framework Overview

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes which are designed around the needs of both the Apprentice and their employer.  The Apprentice is equipped with theoretical knowledge combined with practical hands-on experience which leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Next Steps

To become a fully qualified engineer, this can then lead to specialised training and development, within the engineering industry.

The training for Apprentices that are aged between 16 and 18 is fully funded.  For Apprentices who are aged 19 years or over at the start of their course, a one-off employer contribution fee is required.  (An Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) may also be available for employers who have less than 50 employees and employ an apprentice who is aged 16-24).

Additional Costs

Safety boots and work overalls.
