Framework Overview

This qualification covers the demands of today’s vehicle accident repair industry. It provides the essential skills and knowledge for technicians working on vehicles in vehicle body shops. Students study both the theory, practical and competence aspects of the subject through completion of specialist units. Students also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the health and safety, and other skills associated with working in the industry. Practical activities are completed in fully resourced workshops led by highly competent and qualified staff. Students must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

Next Steps

Students who have completed this programme can progress onto the next level of study at advanced apprenticeship in vehicle accident body repair.

On completion of this apprenticeship, students will be competent to work as a panel technician in a vehicle body shop; following further training and development, students can progress to Level 3 such as a Technician in vehicle refinishing, panel repair or mechanical electrical and trim.

Fees

There are no costs to the Apprentice aged between 16 and 23 to complete an Apprenticeship.

The training for Apprentices that are aged between 16 and 18 is fully funded; for Apprentices that are aged 19 - 23 at the start of the course, a one-off training contribution fee is required from their employer (who may be eligible for a grant).
