Your Framework:

Entry Requirements: Applicants need to be a minimum of 16 years of age and working in a suitable role with a level of English and Maths at or above grade E.

Attendance: 30 hours of employment per week

Start Date: At any point Duration: Minimum 1 year

Framework Overview

This Apprenticeship is suitable for an Apprentice working in a fine dining restaurant or gastro pub where food is prepared and cooked on site. It is designed for learners in a minimum of 30 hours employment per week within the chef industry. You will be provided with a bespoke learning programme that meets the needs of you and your employer and is predominantly tailored to your workplace activities. Your employer will agree the suitable time you train at the College so that you can build knowledge and skills even further and this combined with the support and skills building that you receive in the workplace from your employer, will enable you to be earning a wage while you become a competent professional chef. Skills within this framework include maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment; working effectively as part of a hospitality team; knife skills; food safety and a range of basic food preparation and cooking units relevant to your place of work.

Next Steps

Once you have completed this Apprenticeship you can progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship. This qualification can also support you in a number of jobs in the hospitality and catering industry.

Fees

There are no costs to the Apprentice aged between 16 and 23 to complete an Apprenticeship.

The training for Apprentices that are aged between 16 and 18 is fully funded; for Apprentices that are aged 19 - 23 at the start of the course, a one-off training contribution fee is required from their employer (who may be eligible for a grant).

For Apprentices aged 24 and over and enrol upon an Advanced (level 3) Apprenticeship the employer will be charged a fee.
