  • Entry Requirements

    2 GCSEs at grade 1 including English and/or maths, or demonstrate the ability to work towards level 1 in English and maths in an assessment.

    Course Overview

    This course is based at Suffolk New College - on the coast (Halesworth Campus)

    This qualification combines a mixture of motor vehicle technology and general engineering and provides learners with the opportunity to study both the theory and practical aspects of a range of different vehicle systems and engineering processes such as:

    - Health & Safety, Tools and Equipment in MV/Engineering

    - PEO – Performing Engineering Operations

    - Vehicle Wheels and Tyres

    - Chassis systems – Steering, Brakes and Suspension

    - Engine technology

    Practical activities are completed in fully resourced workshops led by highly competent and qualified staff. You must pass all practical and theory elements of the programme to achieve this nationally recognised qualification.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    The study programme is mainly practical-based and you will learn in our modern Motor Vehicle & Engineering workshop.

    You will develop your practical skills and interact with local employers, who will share their knowledge and experience with you.

    The study programme will also develop your personal, social, and employability skills, which includes opportunities to work on community projects and to explore the various career pathways within the engineering industry.
