The Foundation study programme is a one year, full time experience that allows you to explore a variety of disciplines within an art and design framework. This is supported throughout the year by a programme of critical studies, drawing and visual studies.
The study programme is made up of 7 units, divided into 3 terms, the first is experimental and experiential, the second is developmental and concerned with progression to higher education and the third is the realization of the years’ work. The first two terms are graded Pass only, the Final Project is graded Pass, Merit Distinction (a Distinction is 285 UCAS points). You will be expected to study 18 hours in college and 10 hours of self-directed private study.
The Foundation study programme is primarily aimed at you aiming to progress to higher education.You will be advised about progression to University and Portfolio preparation.
All students who have not achieved a grade C or grade 4, or above in GCSE English or maths or both will need to study an English or/and maths qualification alongside their chosen main qualification.

To have completed the A Level programme of study or equivalent. An interview with a portfolio of work that demonstrates an enthusiasm for art and design.
On the University of the Arts London Awarding Body Diploma in Art & Design, you have the chance to learn in and out of the classroom.
Take part in international trips, to see some of the finest art and design projects around the world, in places such as Barcelona and New York.
Gain experience and tips from workshops run by local art and design companies, which will show you what is needed to progress in to a career in the industry.
There are also chances to take part in College competitions.
100% of Foundation students applied to and gained places at university. Students from the Foundation course gained places at a range of prestigious Universities; these include Glasgow School of Art, London College of Fashion, Falmouth University, Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, Brighton University and Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon.
No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2017.

There are trips to London Galleries and Design institutions, the UCAS fair etc. There are also overseas trips to New York, Amsterdam and Barcelona.
