    5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above including English and/or maths, OR a Level 2 qualification including GCSE English and/or maths at grade 4 (C) or above (or equivalent).

    Course Overview

    This course is based at our Ipswich campus.

    This broad, general Art and Design programme of study will challenge you to explore, experience, and develop your Photography and Art and Design potential, through exciting and creative activities.

    These activities will allow you to develop your own sense of creativity and direction you wish to specialise in.

    The Art and Design qualification is assessed throughout the course, and supported by a structured and enriching tutorial and PSE programme that helps you develop your employability skills.

    GCSE qualifications are available alongside the main programme where required.

    An ideal applicant has a keen interest in Photography, and is energetic, committed, and enthusiastic.

    All students who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English or maths will need to study these subjects alongside their chosen qualification.

    Course Highlights

    Whatever your passion for photography, we can offer you the opportunity to explore, create and develop an exciting, industry ready skill-set on this new Photography pathway. Students will gain an understanding of processes including:

    • 35mm film shooting, processing, and developing (darkroom techniques)
    • Medium and Large format photography
    • Digital photographic techniques
    • Adobe Creative Suite
    • Studio Lighting
    • Editing techniques
    • Publishing and self-publishing strategies
    • Regular trips to contemporary gallery and exhibitions, and a rich visiting lecturer programme.

    Students will study units 1-4 of the main course to support wide ranging contextual understanding before specialising in photographic processes.

    Students who complete this course may progress on to Higher Education.

    Tuition Costs

    No tuition fees are payable for students aged 16 – 18 on 31 August 2020.

    For all students aged 19+ fees will be published at a later date.

    Additional Costs

    There is a £100 trips and materials payment to cover the cost of our national programme and specialist workshop materials. This covers all black & white photographic paper and black & white film.
